While the Festival Director was a great guy and we received 4 days free accommodations, the festival itself was a great disappointment. Disregarding very basic tools to help filmmakers identify themselves, there were no tags given out, no introductions, no parties (with the exception to the opening and awards ceremony which was unfortunately quite sadly attended). The only two things which saved the experience was first a panel on screenwriting (amazing!) and 2nd meeting a screenwriter during the awards ceremony and connecting about filmmaking. The screening itself had a fair attendance and we received great feedback but it just didn’t have the impact it could have. This was my 2nd festival ever – the first being ReelHeART FF in Toronto which was incredible — they get it!! It should be about the filmmaker and all that goes in to making a film. SoCal has a lot to learn — the movies themselves were good it’s just there was not enough PR on the festival. Hopefully in a few years they’ll have improved. The Festival Directors intentions are good –he just needs to start delegating and making it more of an experience. Enough said. Thanks.
