Good fest. They do a really good job. Food, food and more food. The locals really appreciate it which can not be said of a few nameless festivals. A lot to do, panels, screenings, celeb guest speakers. People who run it are nice, courteous and respectful of filmmakers. Not sure why the other filmaker was complaining about lodging, I played 9 of these things and no one has offered me a hotel room yet. Maybe they just don’t like me, but I digress, beautiful setting, small town atmosphere. We had a feature play there but didn’t win but enjoyed myself nonetheless.
    Would do it again.

This was a really pleasant small town festival such a short, easy drive from LA. It’s a lovely area and the locals seem to really get involved. There were tons of seminars – some better than others – ranging from screenwriting to 3D filmmaking, and the parties were well organized with great food from local restaurants. I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t provide lodging for the filmmakers (at least not for the shorts). I’ve found that most small towns are really good at encouraging local hotels to donate rooms (i.e. Jackson Hole Film festival (when it existed), Port Townsend Film Festival, Sedona Intl Film Festival etc.).

Overall, it was a really nice weekend getaway. We took hikes, visited antique stores, photographed ducks. Didn’t see any bears though… maybe next time.
